The X Factor finalists Joe McElderry and Olly Murs are battling it out on primetime TV as they compete to win a lucrative £1m recording contract.
Up to 20 million viewers are set to tune in to the last show in the series, with McElderry favourite to win.
Stacey Soloman was voted off on Saturday night in a show which saw the final three duet with Michael Buble, George Michael and Robbie Williams.
Stacey Solomon has finished in third place on this year’s series of The X Factor.
Solomon, who performed ‘Who Wants To Live Forever’, ‘Wonderful World’ and ‘Feeling Good’ on tonight’s show, received the fewest amount of public votes and will not take part in tomorrow’s final.
After hearing the result, Solomon said: “I came third, that’s really good. I’m really proud. I’ve had the time of my life. Thanks to everyone who kept me here to the final.”
Her mentor Dannii Minogue added: “It’s been an incredible journey. I’ve made an amazing friend. I’d just like to thank everyone who supported her – she’s an absolute talent and a star.”
The news means that Joe McElderry and Olly Murs will battle it out for the X Factor crown on tomorrow’s show, which starts at 7.30pm on ITV1.
This tune is seriously annoying.. ! how could they steal Ciara tune & make some kind of remix? How embrassing ..don’t you think? ..yes/no
Danyl Johnson has become the ninth act to be voted off The X Factor.Johnson, who performed ‘Man In The Mirror’ and ‘I Have Nothing’ on last night’s show, received the fewest amount of public votes and will not be appearing in next week’s final.
On hearing the news, he said: “I may have gone out in the semi-final, but I’ve gone out to some of the best people I’ve ever met. It’s going to be an amazing final for them.”
His mentor Simon Cowell added: “I said before we came on stage, there’s nothing I would have changed, nothing more he could have done, it’s just one of those things. He’s gone out on a high and he’s a graceful loser. I’m genuinely, genuinely a) upset, and b) glad I had the pleasure of working with you.”
“I’ve met some best friends for life,” Johnson continued. “I’m just going to see what happens. I’m looking forward to seeing my family, my friends, and playing a couple of gigs.”
He then closed the show with his rendition of ‘Man In The Mirror’.
The news means that Olly Murs, Joe McElderry and Stacey Solomon will compete forthe X Factor crown in next week’s final, which starts on Saturday at 7.30pm on ITV1.
Welsh warbler Lloyd Daniels was voted off the X Factor last night in a predictable result which left the four most talented singers in the competition.
On a night when the contestants performed twice — one Take That song and one Elton John number — his out-of-tune rendition of Take That’s A Million Love Songs may have been the ultimate undoing of the 16-year-old’s ambitions.
Certainly it prompted a harsh judgment by Louis Walsh. “Obviously people like you much more than I do. You don’t deserve to be in the last five,” he said.
His choice of Elton John’s I’m Still Standing prompted Walsh to observe: “You’re just about standing.”
On hearing he’d been booted out, Lloyd told host Dermot O’Leary that he had enjoyed every minute of being on the programme. His mentor Cheryl Cole said: “It’s amazing that he has come this far… he’s only 16 now and he’s going to blossom into a little star.”
As for his future ambitions, he told Dermot: “I just want to be recognised.”
With Lloyd and quiffed Irish twins John and Edward Grimes out of the competition, it now seems to be a matter of picking the strongest singer from a line-up of talented voices.
And the judges were last night full of praise for the four wannabes still in the competition, though Simon Cowell dismissed Stacey Solomon’s performance of Something About The Way You Look Tonight as “boring” and akin to a wedding singer.
